On Origin of Species, first 3 chapters

The most striking thing that comes at me after reading the first 3 sections is the role of animal husbandry in Darwins thinking.  From second hand accounts you get Galapagos finch beaks, and the eureka moment, but in fact, in these first three chapters he really builds all of his speculation, and in fact the rules, for natural selection based on man’s selection of livestock, and pigeons.
